So...one of the aims of setting this up was to gauge level of support, especially from Saints. And also where to take it to next.....i.e. St Helena / UK Government. Feeling bit disillusioned by both at present, as seemingly the UK Gov has disposed of us, even though they seemed to think we were "British enough" to cover everything up for the airport to go ahead (which by the way was heavily funded by DFID, who got their money from the EU.....staying part of which St Helena had no say in) different story though. Worries me that we would be ignored by both Governments, and then attitudes will never change on the island [if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" o:preferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke> <v:formulas> <v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f> </v:formulas> <v:path o:extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" o:connecttype="rect"></v:path> <o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"></o:lock> </v:shapetype><v:shape id="Picture_x0020_95" o:spid="_x0000_i1025" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/fcb/1/16/1f641.png" style='width:12pt;height:12pt;visibility:visible;mso-wrap-style:square'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:\Users\ANDREA~1\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.png" o:title="1f641"></v:imagedata> </v:shape><![endif][if !vml][endif]:(
A friend has made a helpful suggestion though....theres nothing to stop us taking it to the papers; and they already have the original story / stories. We have done this before.....albeit with a different situation. Those we were aiming to expose were - well and truly exposed...and while it didnt change a lot....the Government at least in Scotland were forced to take some action. And measures were implemented as a result of that exposure since some of what we had exposed was a "human rights violation". So, perhaps the papers will be a starting point when we do take it further...
