So much confusion... :/

Just going to share what seemed like justice being served finally, (a rarity on St Helena) - but for me it leaves more questions than answers. It is GOOD that it has been reported with names in a local paper. But on second thoughts....all the times I had been told by Human Rights that the reason "our" perpetrator was not reported anywhere, was to conceal their identity, due to it being "high profile" a case. So, what makes this case different?? His name is everywhere. Could it be that, its because he is supposedly "serving" the public? At least people KNOW whats going on when such are reported on. It is a good thing. I still though - do not know why ours was "hidden" from public view......which then fuels suspicions among the public further :(

Secondly, once again they have released a Sexual predator on bail !! And this time - they have even "charged" him for such crimes!! How dangerous does one need to be - to be remanded in custody??? In many parts the world...rapists are treated as murderers. You have released someone charged with rape....on bail. Would you do this with a murderer? Too many questions...anyway the report is below...

"MR ERIC BENJAMIN, THE SPEAKER OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL AND LAY ADVOCATE, HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT AND ATTEMPTED RAPE. Mr Benjamin has been charged with the historic offences of sexual assault and attempted rape. He has been released on bail and will soon appear before St Helena Magistrates Court.St Helena Police Detective Sergeant, David Honan, said:“As with all such reports, we take these very seriously and will investigate them thoroughly. Anyone reading or listening to this press release that is or has been the victim of sexual abuse I would urge them to come forward and speak to us in confidence.”
